York Castle Museum

Object Identification

How we can help

Our curatorial team have a great deal of expertise about our own collections - across York Museums Trust, we cover a wide range of subjects including archaeology, biology, costume and textiles, decorative art, fine art, geology, military history and social history.

Unfortunately our History Enquiries Service at York Castle Museum, which includes social history, military history and costume and textiles, has now been suspended until 1 January, 2014, when it will resume. This means all object enquiries, access for photography and research requests are also suspended. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience during this busy period.

Our curators are currently working on two exciting new development plans for the museum's exhibitions and displays for the benefit of our visitors, and we have had to allocate all our resources to these developments.

Our enquiries service continues as normal at the Yorkshire Museum.
