Summer Fun at York Museums Trust
This Summer, come and enjoy some great events and activities at York Castle Museum, the Yorkshire Museum and York Art Gallery, which reopens on 1 August.
At the Yorkshire Museum find out about Jorvik Life and take part in some great Viking activities.
Over at York Castle Museum you can find out all about the how rich and poor Victorians lived in York, discover what they liked to eat and even help them with their chores on our recreated Victorian street, Kirkgate.
York Art Gallery is also reopening on 1 August after its £8m redevelopment.
As well as being able to see brand new exhibitions and a transformed gallery space there is also the opportunity to take part in various activities in the new studio throughout August.

York Castle Museum
A Taste of York’s Past Trail
Everyday
Find the hidden food related objects and discover some fabulous historic food facts linked to York along the way. Discover them all for a special sweet tasting reward.

Rich and Poor in Victorian York
Every Wednesday and Friday, 12pm
Special talks about everyday Victorian life, in the Temperance Rooms on Kirkgate.
Chocolate Box
Throughout August, 11am-4pm
Be inspired by original Rowntree, Terry’s and Craven’s product packaging to design your own brand of chocolate box .
PLUS Every Friday in August, work with artist Joanne Walton to make a chocolate box inspired by examples from the museum’s collections.
Sweet Talk
Throughout the Summer Holidays
Learn about Victorian Conversation Lozenges also known as ‘kissing comfits’ in the Castle Kitchen.
