Confectionery Tour

This new family-friendly tour takes you on a confectionery journey through our popular period rooms and Kirkgate, our famous Victorian Street!
From the delightfully delicious, to the wonderfully weird, to the truly unpleasant – delve into the world of Yorkshire sweets through the ages in our new Confectionery Tour at York Castle Museum!
From questionable 17th century sweetmeats to scrumptious Victorian ‘French Almonds’, let our amazing tour guides whisk you through the centuries to hear the fascinating history of confectionery and York’s important role in developing the delicious world renowned sweets and chocolate we know and love today!
Upcoming dates: Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays in May and June
Please note this tour uses stairs and is not wheelchair or pushchair accessible.
Children under five don’t need a ticket.
Please arrive 10 minutes before your tour time to be checked in.
Please note that due to the current government guidelines York Castle Museum is operating guided tours only at the moment, this means that your tour ticket does NOT admit you to the rest of the museum.
