Join one of our costumed guides on our famous Victorian street Kirkgate every day at 11.45am and 3.00pm for a free 15 minute informal talk.

Each talk is different but will provide an introduction to Kirkgate, the history of York Castle Museum, and the objects on display, as well as the people who lived and worked in York during the Victorian period of 1870-1901.

This final talk from Sophie Jewett (York Cocoa House) explores the role that chocolate and sugar has had in driving consumption behaviour, before becoming the profit centre that enabled and drove social change. Includes a demonstration of the evolution of chocolate drinking recipes.
