Picture Perfect! October half term activities at York Castle Museum

30 October 2017

Put yourself in the picture this October half term with Professor Lenskapp and his fantasy car at York Castle Museum.

Reverse to the Edwardian era; the ‘Golden Age’ of Great Britain where you can enjoy the Edwardian pastime of novelty photography. Grab your goggles, fling on your flat cap and get into gear as you prepare for your Polaroid close-up in the cut out copy of our original Edwardian Calibri Car.

The Edwardians also enjoyed leisurely entertainment and were followers of fashion. Take a trail through the museum looking at how the Edwardians liked to spend their time and dress-up a paper doll to find out about the Edwardian trends.

Lucy Knock, learning manager at York Museums Trust said,

“Professor Lenskapp is waiting to transport visitors back to the Edwardian era with his traditional photographs behind the wheel of his fantasy car!

“Next, take a trail through the museum to discover Edwardian entertainment including puppets, games and songs, and dress up a paper doll in the Edwardian fashion.

“Our kitchen will also have special demonstrations of Yorkshire Parkin- the traditional pudding of Bonfire night!”

Activities take place daily 28 October to 5 November 2017 with no need to book. Find out more below or visit the York Castle Museum website here.
